EMDR Intensives

Welcome to Waves Women's Therapy, where our therapists are certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and offer a faster way to healing through EMDR Intensives! Oftentimes clients spend 6 months to a year or more in regular weekly EMDR and talk therapy sessions, when the same results can be achieved in just one week of intensive EMDR sessions! After an EMDR Intensive clients can move forward in their lives with confidence, peace, and happiness!

What is an EMDR Intensive?

Instead of doing regular weekly EMDR therapy sessions, EMDR treatment is condensed into an intensive format consisting of anywhere between 1 and 5 full days of therapy. We believe clients deserve access to quick relief, which is exactly why we offer EMDR intensives! Within one week you can achieve the results of what generally would take 3 months to a year to achieve through regular weekly sessions. Research shows that the results of EMDR trauma therapy are the same whether they are done in one week of intensive therapy or a year of weekly sessions.

We offer three types of intensives:

  • 1-2 day intensives: These intensives are most effective for clients wishing to work through a single traumatic event

  • 2-3 day intensives: These intensives are helpful for clients wishing to work through a traumatic experience that was ongoing (i.e. abusive work environment, divorce, etc.)

  • 4-5 day intensives: These intensives are often referred to as “Story Clearing” intensives. In these intensives clients work through childhood trauma and attachment wounds, adult traumas, and present-day triggers. The goal of the story clearing intensive is to help clients be free from a lifetime of trauma.

What does an EMDR Intensive look like practically?

For an intensive you’ll consult with one of our therapists to determine a collaborative treatment plan based on your goals and the therapist’s clinical expertise. Depending on your goals, our therapist’s will recommend which type of intensive will be the most appropriate. Then you and the therapist I will schedule an intensive during a time that works for both of you. An EMDR Intensive is similar to a wellness retreat in that it involves advanced scheduling, planning, and time away from regular commitments so that you can focus fully on your healing without distraction.
